In July 2016, Curaçao native Aubrich Bakhuis started in the Litigation & Commercial section in the Curaçao office of VANEPS.

Aubrich is an experienced legal expert, partly raised in Curaçao, who studied constitutional law and administrative law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Among other roles, he was and is active as a legal counsel and as PhD candidate in Caribbean Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. Aubrich expects to present his thesis this fall. Anticipating his doctoral degree, he has already remigrated to Curaçao to continue his career in law as an attorney with VANEPS. That he is familiar with law and the political relations within the Kingdom is proven by his additional roles and positions; he advised the House of Representatives in the Netherlands and the parliaments of Curaçao and Aruba, was a guest speaker at the symposium to celebrate the 60-year anniversary of the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and gave guest lectures together with, among others, the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk.

VANEPS will expand with another three (advanced and starting) lawyers later this summer.
