Throughout 2015, law firm VANEPS donates reading books to various schools on the islands where the firm operates. After donations in Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten, a package of books was handed over to Watapana School in Rincon, Bonaire on Friday 21 August at the start of the new school year.

VANEPS values good education greatly. Therefore, one of the topics the sponsorship and donation policy of the firm focuses on, is youth and youth development.

Tom Peeters, branch manager of the office in Bonaire, and secretary Marit van Rooijen handed over the package of books to the pupils of the school. VANEPS consulted with the teachers on the collection of books, which resulted in a colorful package.

After handing over the books, Tom took the time to read to the children from one of the books. The story about a fish that shared his shiny scales with other fish appropriately symbolized demonstrating social responsibility.

Tom says about the donation: “As a law firm, know-how is our product, and we see what people can accomplish and contribute if they are properly trained and guided. We invest heavily in the development of our own employees. Our sponsorship and donation policy reflects this. We focus on the development of future generations in the Caribbean society in which we operate and in which we are deeply rooted. Good education creates opportunities, and donating books to schools on each of the four islands where our office is located is an initiative that supports this.”
