Partner Molly Steward and senior associate Kimberley de l’Isle of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne have presented do’s and don’ts of employment law at the membership meeting of the Curacao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA) on Monday 19 October. The presentation was titled ‘Employment legislation: prevention is better than cure’.
The meeting, which took place at the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort, was attended by approximately 70 professionals from the hospitality sector. Among others, multiple hotels and airlines were represented.
Molly and Kimberley discussed a number of important issues regarding employment law within this sector. They explained for instance what needs to be taken into account when drafting employment agreements and policy regulations, and clarified that the maximum hours of work per week is arranged differently for the hospitality sector compared to regular employment legislation. This hospitality specific employment legislation was collected in a booklet and expanded with a practical checklist by VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, especially for this occasion. All participants received a copy.
The booklet can be sent upon request. Those interested in receiving a copy can contact Carolyn Isa (E firstname.lastname@example.org, T +5999 461 3400 ext. 120).
