With the swearing-in of lawyer Tessa Breugom on Thursday 11 June, the Bonaire team of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne now consists of six sworn lawyers. Tessa joined VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne in November 2014, after she completed the “Zuidas” Corporate Law master’s degree program at the VU University in Amsterdam.
Tessa started in the litigation practice of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne. Commenting on her status as sworn-in lawyer: “Now I myself may stand before the Court for the petitions I draw up, and argue my cases. This means I may engage in all aspects of the profession.”
Although Tessa has family-in-law in Curaçao, she chose Bonaire. She has been living and working there for seven months, meanwhile, during which period she has experienced that the legal profession is more dynamic than she expected from peaceful Bonaire. “One handles many cases at the same time here, in many different fields of law. This requires a broad knowledge and a good ability to keep track, which appeals to me.”
