Attorney at law Frank Kunneman lectures at International Conference for Lawyers in Antwerpen

On 25 and 26 September 2017, the Dutch Lawyers’ Association and the Flemish Lawyers’ Association organized the International Conference for Lawyers ‘Law and Language’, for lawyers from the Netherlands (including the BES-Islands), Flanders (the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium), South-Africa, Suriname, Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. In all these jurisdictions the Dutch language is or has been the language of the court. Frank Kunneman contributed to the conference with a presentation that was titled ‘Language of the court and interpretation in a fragmenting Kingdom’.

During his lecture, Frank Kunneman addressed the question whether we are able to solve the increasing discrepancy between culture and the language of the court in different parts of the Kingdom.
