Dr. Gerard Lewin received doctorate degree (PhD)

Yesterday was an important day for the University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA) and for Gerard Lewin. He received his doctorate degree from professor Kunneman.

The law of civil procedure of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba has its own character. For a proper understanding thereof, knowledge of this law alone is not sufficient. It is important to know the nature of the procedures before the Supreme Court in the Hague. They play an important role in appeal. As regards cassation procedures, one should also have a good insight into the law of procedure of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

These specific topics are described in the doctoral dissertation of Gerard Lewin, which he defended at the UNA yesterday, after which he was awarded his doctorate degree. The photograph shows professor Kunneman awarding Lewin his doctorate degree.
