Amendments to the Civil Code of Curacao

On January 1, 2012, thirteen state ordinances have taken effect for Curaçao, with which a second phase in the project to introduce a new Civil Code in Curaçao has been completed.

The first phase of this project, when eighteen state ordinances took effect for - at the time - the Netherlands Antilles, had already been completed in 2001. The thirteen state ordinances concern all eight books of the Civil Code. After reading this publication, you will be familiar with the most important amendments. By clicking on page 2 of the chapter you select, you are automatically led to the relevant state ordinance. If you have any questions about the interpretation of a certain amendment, please contact one of the lawyers of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne mentioned in this publication.
