Kimberley de l'Isle

Kimberley de l’Isle is an experienced lawyer with an all round corporate background and is specialized in employment law. She co-heads the Employment team and Hospitality & Leisure sector team of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne. Kimberley advises and represents clients regarding a wide range of (cross-border) employment law matters. This includes contracting, dismissal (of managing directors), personnel issues in acquisitions and reorganizations, redundancy of employees, negotiations with unions and collective labor agreements.
Kimberley studied at the University of Aruba, where she obtained her Master of Laws in 2003. She started her career at our firm, and rejoined VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne after leaving the firm for two years between 2005 and 2007, when she worked for a law firm in Aruba.

Kimberley is an active member of the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association. She regularly speaks at meetings and events about employment law in the daily practice. Recently, she co-authored a booklet summarizing the essential Curaçao employment legislation, comparing hospitality specific legislation to general employment legislation. Furthermore, Kimberley was a part-time lecturer social work at the University of Curaçao.

  • Labor union Sindikato General Trahado di Korsow (SGTK) in summary proceedings instituted by nine contracting firms against the labor union as a result of a strike by their employees.
  • RBC Royal Bank in a reorganization across the Dutch Caribbean.
  • Telecommunications company TelEm in St. Maarten with the employment aspects of their complex restructuring in 2013, transferring employees from different entities to the operating company and dismissing employees who were unable to make such transfer.
  • Various hotels – such as the Marriott and Hilton hotels in Curacao – in a wide range of employment law matters.
