Biography
After receiving a law degree at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam Mayesi Hammoud attended a trainee program at the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2001. Mayesi joined VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne in 2003 and since January 2012 she is a partner at the firm.


Mayesi runs an all round practice in the fields of dispute resolution, corporate law, employment and insurance law and works for a large number of clients in the private and public sector, focusing on the fields of energy, real estate, telecommunication, media and technology in the Dutch Caribbean.

Besides practicing law, she is actively committed to helping vulnerable groups in society including children and youngsters and supports many charities and voluntary initiatives. She is Deputy Board member of the CliniClowns and cooperates closely with colleagues on a pro bono basis in order to safeguard the famous Art Deco building ‘Cinelandia’ from destruction. In her role as newly joined partner she focuses on the training and supervision of the firm’s young professional talent and on its donation activities.

  • Fatum, the insurance company, in multi-investors claim with respect to combined insurance-investment products
  • Supervisory Board of Curacao government-owned energy company in dispute with managing director
  • The Island Territory of Bonaire on adjusting, supplementing or converting all local legislation due to the constitutional changes
  • Turkish public company in extensive legal proceedings resulting in successfully blocking enforcement of a Russian arbitral award
  • Various (corporate) litigation, also cross border, including numerous injunction proceedings
  • Various clients relating to immediate dismissal, employment dissolution, termination proceedings and collective dismissal
