Talent Factory declared bankrupt on Curacao
WILLEMSTAD - The Talent Factory Curaçao (TTFC) has been officially declared bankrupt. The bankruptcy was ordered by the Court on Thursday. This has been confirmed by bankruptcy trustee Nanne Holtrop of VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne.
At the beginning of this month, the call center was still granted a moratorium, and it was decided that a creditors' meeting would be held on March 30. However, after an inventory, it apparently turned out that there was no choice but to apply for bankruptcy. This supposedly took place on January 13 already, i.e. shortly after the moratorium was granted.
For the employees this means that, at any rate, they can apply to the SVB for severance pay. For each year they were employed, one week's salary will be paid. For the hard core of the employees with a firm contract this means one month's or almost one month's salary. In December, right before Christmas, more than 40 full-time and part-time employees were put on the street without pay, when the holding company in the Netherlands pulled out the plug, because TTFC turned out not to be profitable. TTFC became active at the end of 2007.
Meanwhile, another call center in the Netherlands, 2Contact, would have shown an interest in establishing a branch in Curaçao. Meetings on this will take place next week. This could mean a new chance for the hard core of the full-time employees of the now bankrupt TTFC.
