On January 1, 2012, thirteen state ordinances have taken effect for Curaçao, with which a second phase in the project to introduce a new Civil Code in Curaçao has been completed. The first phase of this project, when eighteen state ordinances took effect for - at the time - the Netherlands Antilles, had already been completed in 2001. Last Saturday, February 12, the “Universitaire Scriptieprijs” (University Thesis Prize) was awarded in Leiden for the best thesis of the year 2010-2011. The prize was won by Dirk Ormel.
